Otto Muehl: Electric Painting Films

A new HD version of a film of a question and answer session with controversial Viennese artist Otto Muehl (1925-2013) on 23rd October 2003, the opening night of his exhibition ‘Electric Painting Films’ at the T1+2 Gallery in London. He had recently been released from prison. The exhibition was curated by British artist Wolfe Lenkiewicz.

Through careful editing I displayed footage of the paintings and films in the exhibition on one side of the screen, with Otto talking about his work on the other. This causes unexpected juxtapositions and coincidences.

The film has never been screened publicly.
