Another collaboration with singer Mikey Georgeson to coincide with the release of his greatest hits album, The Best Of The Vessel.
Mikey describes the film thus:
“Film by Martin Pickles and Mikey Georgeson. The featured song “The Half of it” is included on The Best of The Vessel out now on Seraglio Point Productions. The setting is Dulwich Village and the grounds of the Dulwich Picture Gallery. Pickle (seen momentarily at the start) films Georgeson lip-synching to the song which is about aspects of his life in said village – a place he lived in for over ten years. This places the performance in the liminal space between the surface reality of cognitive process and the (in Georgeson’s opinion) richer more complex realm of the subconscious and metaphorical understanding. This is redolent of Borge’s idea of writing as a guided dream. The film manifests a dream space where we can, if we chose, process the dilemmas of subconscious and even conscious life.”
Mikey has also made his own edit of the film, viewable here:
