Ripples

(1993, 2’49”, Super 8)

A film poem made in a house overlooking the river Isis in Oxford. It is an experimental film about the abstract quality of the reflected light which illuminates the house’s interior. It was my very first film.

I shot the film at 18 f/p/s on a Super 8 camera and edited it entirely on an 8mm splicer before telecine-ing it some years later.

The man on the bridge is Dan Chambers. The music is the tracks “Tears” (David Curtis) and “Meniscus” (Simon Raymonde) by This Mortal Coil.
